So, you want to develop outdoor education in your school?

You recognise that to create socially competent, emotionally intelligent, entrepreneurial children and young people requires teachers to be enabled and empowered to utilise the most appropriate learning environments, wherever they may be.

We can help

We could just run activities for you – from simple activities in the school grounds to adventurous expeditions in remote countries and everything in between.

What we would really like to do is to work with you and your staff team to develop your own sustainable outdoor and adventurous education programme.

How can we do this?

We have twenty years experience in motivating and training staff to initiate, develop and run progressive outdoor education programmes – in schools, colleges and youth organisations. We have been there and done that – working with children and staff in environments ranging from British classrooms to the Western Desert and Morocco’s Atlas Mountains.

Why do you need us?

If you recognise any of the following concerns then we can help…

  • I want to introduce a range of real life experiences for my pupils but I don’t know where to start.
  • I want to develop activities myself rather than rely on an outside provider.
  • I want to try new ways of managing behaviour.
  • I want to motivate my staff.
  • It’s dangerous isn’t it – how do I manage the risk?
  • I’m not sure what I am allowed to do.
  • How do I justify what I want to do to parents and governors?
  • I would like to use a provider but they need to be the right provider….

We offer:

  • A free initial consultation- enabling you to start the ball rolling for yourself.
  • Bespoke activity packages to suit your aims and your budget.
  • Consultancy, training and activities enabling you to build a sustainable outdoor education package in your school. This could be based for example around alternative curriculum programmes, Duke of Edinburgh’s award or ’50 things to do at my school’.

“…an excellent programme whereby the whole process is one of development, growth and responsibility.”

“Tim’s work organising and delivering expeditions has provided life changing experiences for our students (and staff!)”

Graham Little, Head of Outdoor Education
Palatine Community Sports College

Tim worked with us to help really kick start the whole agenda of adventure and out-of-classroom learning at Pendle Vale. His knowledge and experience have really helped our staff to consider what might be possible with young people, whilst at the same time facilitating an ongoing debate about how these experiences really add value. Tim knows what questions to ask and has a real focus on making a programme sustainable within schools – not just reliant on outside help. We were able to take 12 staff away on an excellent residential to look at the possibilities of outdoor learning and the inspiration of this weekend and the subsequent discussions has led to us running Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, in a sustainable way, in school for over 70 young people.
Tim fully understands the standards agenda that drives schools and has a genuine and focused approach to making sure that any outdoor or adventure programme enhances this. We hope to continue to work with Tim, and his network of other outdoor professionals, to continue our journey for time to come.
